My name is Maria Marques, I am Maria's mother. It's been about 8 years since she left for the United States. We miss her. I had 8 children, and she is the youngest. I had a very troubled pregnancy, I felt very sick during gestation. The birth was natural, but after her, I underwent a specific surgery to not have more children.

Maria was a child who didn't give me trouble. We had a good relationship. She was very attached to her father, and when she was still very young, she would put her hand in his pocket and say, "Dad, give me a cluzero" (referring to the currency of the time, Cruzeiro).

When she turned 14, she started to be very rebellious and didn't obey me, and during this phase, our relationship wasn't very good. Some time later, she left home and went to live her life.

She suffered a lot in life, but thank God she found a direction, her life transformed. For me, it's a pleasure to know she's doing well now. I miss her, and we talk whenever possible. Moreover, I'm happy about this book she wrote, and I hope it can help many people.
